Safe-Tease

I have always thought safety symbols and warning stickers on equipment and everyday items, looked funny. Sometimes they are exaggerated and terrifying. Sometimes they look just plain silly. When I was a younger man working as a machinist in a small machine shop, I saw a warning symbol that was simply a hand inside a circle with a line through it and I thought “That looks like it means no high fives” and sort of laughed to myself. I knew it actually meant “Don’t Touch”.

I started to notice that a lot of different safety signs would look cool on T-shirts. I started taking pictures of the ones I liked most and began making images that could be used for screen printing and other forms of production, such as sublimating on coffee mugs and accessories.

Any dangerous or potentially harmful equipment or object likely has a safety warning on it that I think would be a good t-shirt for someone you know. Would you go to a rock concert wearing a shirt that says, “Stay clear of rockers”? Would cousin Jack wear a shirt that says “Caution Heavy” or “Caution Compressed Air” or maybe you know someone that needs the “high voltage” warning label. Certainly there is someone in your circle of friends who needs a warning or caution label.
